Bahrain: Stories of an Inconvenient Revolution (English)
A night of personal stories of Bahraini activists (including a documentary) about the revolution that never made it and the continuing struggle that the world ignores.
What happens on the ground? What’s it like to be an activist in Bahrain? What are the toughest experiences Bahrainis went through.
Speakers:
– Hussain Jawad: Bahraini Human Rights defender and Chairman of European-Bahraini Organisation for Human Rights (EBOHR), and a political refugee in France. Hussain documented cases of torture, monitored human rights violations, and has been subjected to torture himself.
– Faten Bushehri: Bahraini journalist and human rights advocate currently living in Amsterdam. Board member of EBOHR. Her family has been subjected to harassment, torture, and detention.
– Said Yousef Almuhafdha: Bahraini blogger and human rights activist. Vice President of Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR), and a political refugee in Berlin. He was subjected to harassment, threats, and beatings.
